There are 8,500 mentally challenged people in about 200 Sunshine Home centers (50% of whom are over 18). In recent years, in an effort to reduce the burden of families of mentally challenged people and improve their social adaptability, Shanghai Government established Sunshine Home centers aimed at organizing training, rehabilitation and some simple work for them.

HandsOn Shanghai bring various activities there to assist them to improve their social adaptability and their life quality, help them build self confidence and their ability to get more involved into the community.
